Title:
B&O 4559, actually Elk River Coal & Lumber Co #10
Description:
Former Elk River Coal & Lumber Co. 2-8-2 #10 was repainted and relettered as B&O 4559 and placed on display at Heritage Station in Huntington, WV. I took this photo while a downpour was drenching everything in sight in June 1992, exact date uncertain. This engine had been placed here back around 1977 and was literally on open display for many years. The lettering is not completely accurate for B&O's steam power, but it sure looks good to me.

I'm not exactly sure what this piece of equipment is or does but it's on the engineer's side of the cab. The throttle is partly visible at the top right and the reverse gear is to the right of this mystery item (brake stand?), as well. Huntington, WV: June, 1992.

B&O 4559 (Elk River Coal & Lumber Co. #10), fireman's cab window
Description:
This view shows the yellow trim around the side and rear windows for the fireman's side of this engine. Elk River Coal & Lumber Co. 2-8-2 #10 has been on display at Huntington, WV's Heritage Station since around 1977 and is still there as of July 2016, but repainted back into the original Elk River paint and number. This has been a fabulous way for people to admire the machinery of yesteryear that brought us up to today.

CP 2-8-2 #5146 - Canadian Pacific
Description:
With steam rising as a cloud around this loco, it denotes a cold day in March. Due to the limitations of the RRPA (no 2-8-2 choice), this 2-8-2 Mikado is listed as a 2-10-2. It was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1913 as #5046 but renumbered sometime between 1926-30 when the original superheater installation was replaced by a Schmidt Type A. On the back of the photo was this note stating "CP 5146 at Newport, Vt w/ Quebec Central way freight for Sherbrooke (best 'A' steam in New England) 3/21/1957" A large segment of the former rail from Newport, VT to Quebec has been converted to the Newport Bikepath now so trains can no longer run between Newport, VT and Sherbrooke.
